Our bull sale this year was very successful with a very strong participation from Northern NSW and Queensland.
We achieved a total clearance of 104 bulls with an average price of $11,640.
We were thrilled with this result as bull sales were back from last year and the season and prices had deteriorated. The outcome demonstrated to us that the demand for our genetics is strong from repeat buyers and growing with 40% heading to Queensland where our customers are realising the (hard to ignore) benefits of breeding to type and maternal.
The top price of $80,000 was paid by the Gaffney family Bell, QLD for a Blaster son. This bull was purchased for their “Graneta Angus” operation. Jon Gaffney was delighted with his purchase, having first seen the bull at our open day two weeks before the sale.
The underbidder, Dion Porter from Fucheng Woodlands, Westmar, Queensland, added to the collective dynamic of the sale.
Fucheng Woodlands, known for their significant operation contributed to the clearance of the sale by acquiring four bulls at an average price of $19,500, including the second highest-priced bull.
Out of the 104 bulls on offer, 14 found new homes through AuctionsPlus, illustrating the integration of technology in the sale process. The remaining 90 bulls went to the stands.
Another noteworthy sale was made for Eaglehawk Powerpoint S566. The bull was purchased for $26,000 and ranked in the top 10 percent for 200 and 400-day weights, exemplifying the shared interest in breeding earlier maturing and thick cattle.
Several volume buyers, including Camm Agricultural Group from Bowenville, Queensland, and Bradleys Flats Pastoral Company from Black Springs, southern NSW made significant purchases by acquiring multiple bulls each. Both being repeat customers.
The presence of 47 bulls in the catalogue with estimated breeding values below the breed average for birthweight reflects our commitment to offering diverse genetics that meet the needs of a broader community of breeders. What we call “heifer bulls” are multi dimensional being suitable for taking the whole herd forward with the added bonus of smaller calves.
We would like to express our gratitude for the support of repeat buyers, acknowledging the importance of their ongoing trust in our philosophies and genetics. The foundation of trust our clients have in our program has been instrumental in building our confidence to hold the line and breed true and honest performance cattle that build wealth not only for the entire beef chain, but first and foremost ….on farm.
Welcome and thanks to our new comers also! Please feel free to phone us about any problems you may encounter with your purchases and marketing going forward. We are all in this together.
The auctioneer, Blake O’Reilly- Ray White, Armidale had his hands full, skillfully managing the crowd of bidders. The sale was conducted efficiently and effectively, thanks to the collective effort of Ray White Armidale and Dorrigo.
We are always grateful to our family and friends who turn up each year and help pull this day together for our bull buying guests. They work hard for the week leading up to and then on the day serving food and wrangling the bulls.
Our crowd enjoyed, for the second year running, a delicious tasting of the Stockyard Gold label grain fed sirloin. Thanks to Stocky
ard Beef for this kind donation. The crowd loved it!
