Herd Sires

This page showcases some of recent herd sires that will drive the Eaglehawk herd over the next few years.

We use what we regard as the most up to date World’s best Angus Sires in our breeding program.  We regularly travel to the United States to personally search for and  inspect potential sires that will add value to and enhance our genetics and then by association, our clients herds.  For instance, the bull’s progeny and the breeding program from where they have originated is visited and assessed for suitability to Australian production systems and environment .  The maternal strength in a bulls pedigree is paramount to our decisions.  As a result we have the added confidence the bulls have brought excellent balanced genetic profiles, phenotype and performance to the Eaglehawk cow herd with the  depth of pedigree we insist on to use over our cows.

Our aim is to give our customers the best genetic advantage we possibly can to keep driving forward.

KOUPAL KOZI 418

(EXCLUSIVE TO EAGLEHAWK)

This unique herd sire breeds very consistently wide topped, naturally deep, thick carcase cattle. In addition he is a true curve bending bull as his calves are generally light and then they explode to the top of the group by 400 days.  If you need to thicken your herd while still keeping the cows feminine, Kozi will do this.  We have the only Kozi calves in Australia as he is now deceased.  Such a shame as we like how he has influenced our herd and the daughters that will definately keep.  Therefore, we will continue to use his limited semen in embryo transfer programs until he is no more. If you are looking to thicken your herd you can’t go wrong.

MORE INFO

LD CAPITALIST 316 is a most magnificent herd sire from the Ludington herd in Texas.  We first saw him as a yearling bull in the Musgrave herd 5 years ago and have watched with interest as he has grown and performed.   We have also visited the Ludington herd and were very impressed with the strength of the females and their softness and capacity.  Capitalist is being heavily used the world over.  He is a calving ease sire who stamps his calves with great structure, carcase attributes and muscle pattern. Therefore, his progeny is powerful with solid growth and high performance and doing ability to produce equally outstanding results on grass and grain alike.  All of this is enhanced by a strong set of balanced figures. The heifers we have bred from Capitalist are absolute winners, great udders, conformation and depth of rib.  He is one of the best and most sought after bulls in the breed today and for good reason.

MORE INFO

MUSGRAVE APACHE.

A herd sire that is a unique blend of style, structure and muscle who is making a name in the industry as a cowmaker sire. We initially were wanting to secure  Musgrave Aviator (his sire)  but he wasn’t being collected Internationally and then he passed on. Consequently we were directed to the best son he had bred at the time, and that was this fella.

The photo we have here is a young Apache but you can see the smooth muscling and impecable structure he displays.   He also offers the flexibility of being heifer safe with loads of phenotype to the calves and standout performance. As a result we are very happy to carry on the Musgrave Apache bloodline in the Eaglehawk elite cow herd.
